In the mission to develop more efficient treatment for Head and neck cancers We are going to develop along with our partners a drug loaded nanocarrier system that can target the tumors more efficiently. We will evaluate whether novel metal/polymer nanocarriers can be guided magnetically to tumors and improve treatment by combining three new drugs with a special technology called magnetoplasmonic nanocapsules (MAPSULES). Our study will focus on two major aspects- the first is the toxicity/safety profile of the drug loaded nanocarriers in mice models, and, importantly, to study bioditribution in vivo which aim to elucidate whether we can guide the metallic containing nanoparticles more efficiently to the tumor site post injection using magnet. The biodistribution will be also done in tumor bearing mice. Since the therapy include exposure to laser in the NIR Infrared region, which create photoactivation, we will study both safety and tumor targeting with magnet and laser exposure (externally).
